Aruba - Week 2

Today is Wednesday, the second week in Aruba. The weeks are just flying by. Yesterday we had heavy rain from a tropical storm nearby. Even when it is raining it is warm.

Since our last blog we have played 18 holes of golf on a beautiful course in Aruba (minigolf but still golf none the less)

We ate at a beautiful restaurant by the lighthouse a few days ago. The views were fantastic and the food and atmosphere were wonderful. On the way home a huge crab was crossing the road and posed beautifully so we could take a picture.

Day before yesterday we took a jeep tour to the other side of the island and saw what used to be the natural bridge (collapsed in 2005 but there is another one forming due to the tremendously large waves crashing there. We saw a lot of wild goats on the tour. There were some very rocky roads we needed to take on the jeep tour. Dennis drove one of the jeeps so he was pleased about that.

We came home from shopping and visiting the casino yesterday $10 richer. Now we think we should be able to stay here longer.

The sun is almost shining now so we are headed out to enjoy it. Bye for now.

More from Aruba

We are having a great time in Aruba. They say the weather is always sunny here but we are finding that is not so. There has been lots of rain and cloudy days for the last few days and the forcast calls for more. But even with the rain and clouds it is great. Between showers we are able to enjoy the heat and humidity.

We have some great pictures of iguanas, geckos, blue and green lizards, blow holes, beaches, boats, pelicans, butterflies, snails, frogs and birds. We have eaten out by the waterfront a few times and are enjoying fresh seafood.

Last night Kathy rode on the back of a Harley around a track in the Black Hog Pub. They had bull riding and bar stool racing as well. Was lots of fun!

We are moving to our next hotel today so will be a new holiday experience. Aruba out!

Aruban Musings

November 16, 2008

We had good flights on the way to Aruba. One plane had to be turned off and on to reboot the computer before takeoff but all was well on the flights (flutes is plural I understand for flights)

The airport was super busy at Aruba. There were a lot of us there to soak up the heat and enjoy the ocean.

The first night at our hotel, they had a Welcome Party with free drinks, music and food. Great way to start.

The ocean is a beautiful green/blue color and the sand is an amazing white color. It has been hot and humid, just the way we like it. There was a bit of rain overnight which was just fine.

There was a car show in the parking lot this morning so Dennis really enjoyed that. We have
a gym here that we are using and are enjoying the swimming pools.

We have a Caribean Party at our hotel tonight with more free drinks, music and food. Looking forward to that.

That's it for now. Off to the pool! It's a hard life!
